When the sun and moon are both visible in the sky during the day.

Just because it's a common experience, it still deserves a name. Other common experiences have names. It's not uncommon to see the sunshine while there's a shower and that has a name, sun shower. So why shouldn't seeing the sun and the moon together in the sky have a name? Couldn't find one anywhere on the webber-net, so I had to make one up.

Just a quick entry at the bottom of September 2nd and 3rd. Watercolors and Micron pen in my Jane Davenport Canvas Journal.
Watercolor Nebulae were the subject of our nature journaling station during the North Museum's Astronomy Day Celebration April 21st.
Bright colors for the dust and gas clouds we call nebulae. Dark blues and blacks for space. Some white acrylic paint splatter for stars. Having fun in my Jane Davenport Canvas Journal.
On January 31, 2018, a Super Blue Blood Moon will be visible from the United States for the first time since 1866. It is a Super Moon because on January 30th the Moon will be at the point in its orbit that is closest to Earth. The Moon appears to be at its largest and brightest during this time.
It is a Blue Moon because it is the second full moon during the calendar month of January. The first full moon was on January 1st.
It is a Blood Moon because the Earth will pass between the Moon and the Sun creating a shadow on the Moon. The Moon can appear reddish at this time.
It is also a Lunar Eclipse event that will be visible in Hawaii, Alaska, and Eastern Asia and Australia.
The Strawberry Full Moon means that it is prime strawberry picking time! But if a berry is a fleshy fruit formed from a single ovary that has multiple seeds then the strawberry is NOT a berry at all! The tasty part of the strawberry is not formed from the ovary. It is formed from the receptacle which is the thickened part of the stem from which the flower organs grow. That makes a strawberry an accessory fruit. And what's with the strawberry wearing its seeds on the outside? Well, those "seeds" are actually small dry, hard-walled fruits called achenes. So because the strawberry is formed from one flower with multiple ovaries it is also an aggregate fruit. But wait! There's more! A watermelon IS a berry!
Summer is also the time for another favorite fruit - watermelon! Watermelon is a special type of berry called a pepo. Pepos havewith a hard thick rinds.
So, to recap:
Strawberry - not a berry.
Strawberry "seeds" - fruits.
Watermelon - berry.
And now you know!
Did I forget to mention that the moon is made of green cheese?
