#SBSColoredPencils #PlaysWithPencils Development piece of an interior view...

Waiting in the dentist's office for Tom. Practicing with colored pencils in my Jane Davenport Canvas Journal. My only view was of 2 chairs and a window with vertical blinds. Not one person in the room to sketch, so this is a development piece of an interior view also known as practicing sketching chairs .

#SBSColoredPencils #PlaysWithPencils Photo-realism with Prismacolor Verithins and Koojse

#SBSColoredPencils #PlaysWithPencils
Sketchbook Skool's Colored Pencils: Sharpen Your Skills Kourse. Playing with colored pencils to create photo-realism sketches with fakulty member Koojse.

Using Prismacolor Verithins in a Canson XL Bristol Smooth 100 lbs paper spiral journal. Verithins have a hard, thin core making them excellent for a detailed drawing.

To create an illusion of form, I make the pencil marks follow the shape of the object. I use less pressure in areas for the highlights and add darker hues in areas for shadows.

Verithin swatches on Canson Bristol.

I must have bought all of the Verithins in blister packs because I couldn't find any tins or packaging in the closet. Currently, I keep them in a Global Arts leather pencil case. This case is designed to hold 120 thin pencils. There are two sections (the second section is not shown in the picture). Each section opens and closes independently with a zipper. The pencil holder straps are elastic.

Art and Oatmeal: Wonky Teacup Time

You know, like REALLY, how hard is it to draw a teacup? Went straight to it with my Lamy pen. The shape wasn't even close! The rim was way too narrow. Oh, well. Watercolor and ink in Jane Davenport Canvas Journal.

The matching teapot sits on the teacup. So I used the first teacup sketch as the bottom of the duo.

Plan A was to have the sketch look something like this:

Plan B was to have absolutely no composition and a wonky teacup - Success!

Dear Liz Steel, I promise to keep trying! Patty

Art and Oatmeal: sunflower vase with Lamy fountain pen and watercolor wash

Wonky but fun!

Art and Oatmeal with Sliced Honeycrisp Apples and a sunflower vase.

Lamy Safari pen. Don't even remember where I got this sketchbook! It says BG Green Sketchbook, Metro Books. Nice smooth paper and it even took a little bit of wash with just a hint of wrinkle.

Art and Oatmeal: Doctor's Order

Messing around with oil pastel resist and watercolors during oatmeal today. Here's the mess -

Here's the oatmeal with sliced Honeycrips apples, cinnamon, and brown sugar.

Here's a close-up of the oil pastel fun.

Here's some art supplies. Derwent Oil Pastels and WN Travel (apparently just to the kitchen) Watercolor Set. Strathmore 500 Series Mixed Media Sketchbook.

Mug Shots May Not Be My Cup-of-Tea...

Egads! This is suppose to be a picture of the mug that was a gift from the Millersville Literacy Institute students. I'm afraid I did not do it justice. The actual mug is really quite nice.

Maybe it's hot chocolate? I started with regular watercolors and added some opaque ones as well. Strathmore 500 Series Mixed Media Journal.

Liz Steel receives china tea cups as gifts. She sure does make tea cups look stunning. And she's only painted about 600 pictures of them for practice! Check out her website:  http://www.lizsteel.com/cuppa-tea-time-a-teacup-step-by-step/

I get mugs. I'm sure I'm more of a mug person anyway. I'd probably break the china. Can a mug look elegant in its own way? I guess I'll have to paint 599 more to find out...
