#MyCanterburyCoddiwomples #The100DayProject Day #46 "KERPLOP!"
A heavy piece of machinery drove through part of the woods leaving two wide sunken tracks that have filled with water because the drainage is very poor. While walking by I heard a "Kerplop!". Definitely a frog, didn't see enough to identify the species. Perhaps a wood frog?

What's on my mind? August 23, 2018 Frog!
What's on my mind?
The green frog popped his head up and made an appearance today! Haven't seen him in a long while. Thought the garter snake had him for dinner. I also noticed there was one lily pad growing above the pond surface. Why is it doing that?

Nolde Forest Turtle Pond Event
Nolde Forest Environmental Education Center "Explore the Turtle Pond" event. Carol and I set up our nature journaling station to paint with the participants. They caught a bullfrog tadpole, several salamanders, and a green frog. All were successfully released back to the pond after they posed for their paintings. My frog looks very lumpy, doesn't he?
Have you ever noticed how their eyes sparkle? I used twinkling H2Os, a gold sparkle pen, and a white Posca pen to put a bit of a shine on this frog.

June 29th: Thinking about Froads and Togs
There was a hoppy toad in the barn. I put him out in the garden because I thought that maybe the barn cats would pester him too much. That action might not have been necessary, apparently (not from personal experience) toads taste really yucky. The cats may have learned to leave toads alone (from personal experience). And just perhaps, the toad may have loved the taste of the grain beetles that in found there!
On my mind: Do adult toads swim?
Yes!
It must be true
that they do
I saw it on youtube.
While on the subject of amphibians... I wondered if my lily pads were too small or if my frogs were too fat. Perhaps the frog in the pond just liked being half submerged in the water...cooler that way?
