Tree # 132: Speedwell Lake

An oppressive hot and humid Monday evening and here I am Nature Journaling at Speedwell Lake with PA Master Naturalist Carol and Secretary of the Butterfly Club, Jan. The lake is formed by a small dam so it is man-made. The non-native Bradford tree in the picture was planted as a memorial.

But the amazing and amusing white egrets were wonderful to watch! Because they had short legs and, as Carol described them while viewing through her binoculars, looked "dirty" (darker patches), I'm going to guess that they were Cattle Egrets and not the Great Whites.
