I won't bore you with all of my really, and I mean REALLY, bad life drawings I did today, so I only posted three. I did one session last winter, that was my first ever time doing life. This is my second session. Looks like I need a few hundred more. This one is my third favorite out of the bunch, even though it doesn't have much going for it.

Why is the human body so hard to draw to proportion? This is my second favorite.

For this blue one (Derwent Graphite) I started with the triangle under his arm and from there filled in the negative shapes. I tried not to sketch in the sense of making lines. I like this one the best!

I think these are fine efforts - it is darn hard. I too am struggling with bodies all of the time. Used to be I only drew heads. Then heads too big for the bodies. Now I struggle with proportion all of the time, and that's just with them standing up straight or sitting. Hang in there, Patty!
ReplyDeleteI think bodies are the hardest of all! I think that's why it is so important to do it, because if you can conquer this, you can conquer anything!! Wonderful effort; keep at it!
ReplyDeleteUsing negative spaces to create Sean turned out great, though I must say I'm impressed with the other efforts too. I've been thinking alot about negative spaces, and you've shown what can be done even with a live model. wow. Looking forward to more...
